![]() Last 5-year EPS & projected 3-5-year EPS growth rates between 5% and 20% (Strong EPS growth history and prospects ensure improving business.) Screening ParametersĪlong with the criteria discussed in the above section, we have considered a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy) or 2 (Buy). Using the GARP principle, we ran a screen to identify stocks that should offer solid returns in the near term. Though this investing style picks stocks with higher P/E ratios than value investors, it avoids companies with extremely high P/E ratios. ![]() GARP investing prioritizes the popular value metrics - the price-to-earnings (P/E) and price-to-book (P/B) ratios. Moreover, stocks with positive cash flows find precedence under the GARP plan. GARP investors look for a strong and higher ROE than the industry average to identify superior stocks. Hence, growth rates between 5% and 20% are considered ideal under the GARP strategy.Īnother growth metric that both growth and GARP investors consider is the return on equity (ROE). However, instead of super-normal growth rates, pursuing stocks with a more stable and reasonable growth rate is a tactic of GARP investors. These stocks also have solid prospects in terms of cash flow, revenues, earnings per share (EPS) and so on.Ī strong earnings growth history and impressive earnings prospects are the main concepts that GARP investors borrow from the growth investing strategy. Investors adopting the GARP approach prefer buying stocks priced below the market or any reasonable target determined by fundamental analysis. The GARP strategy seeks to offer an ideal investment by utilizing the best features of both value and growth investing. GARP Metrics - Mix of Growth & Value Metrics Grainger ( GWW Quick Quote GWW - Free Report), Hubbell ( HUBB Quick Quote HUBB - Free Report), Allegion ( ALLE Quick Quote ALLE - Free Report) and Grand Canyon Education ( LOPE Quick Quote LOPE - Free Report) are some GARP stocks that hold promise. The strategy helps investors gain exposure to undervalued stocks with impressive prospects. If you are looking for a profitable portfolio of stocks offering the best of value and growth investing, try the growth at a reasonable price or GARP strategy. ![]() Now let me lay out some of my Patagonia favorites: Ĭheck out the introduction and my product recommendations if you're in one of these circumstances. ![]() It used to be that the big reason to use Premiere or Final Cut was that there weren't tutorials out for any other tool, but the kdenlive community has absolutely closed that gap. It was fairly easy to pick up as someone with prior experiences with NLEs, it's been super stable, it's incredibly feature rich, but mostly what's impressed me is how clear and thorough the documentation is, both in terms of the written manual and the tutorials put out by the kdenlive team and random users. Fast forward a decade, I haven't edited videos for six years, and I see that Cinelerra has fractured itself to death, so I begrudgingly install the kdenlive flatpack.Īnd my response was: good lord when did kdenlive get good? I first tried it back in 2010, and it was so buggy, confusing and hard to use, I ditched it immediately in favor of Cinelerra and didn't look back. Optimistic of you to hope for an impartial answer im r/kdenlive, but let me give my perspective as someone who hated kdenlive for years. The trade off is that, because it's a real editor, you can do five thousand more things with your edit, but as mentioned, it takes a whole lot more time and learning to do so. It's not a copy and paste deal like Movavi and others try to be. Can you get those effects in Kdenlive.absolutely. Kdenlive is an old-fashioned video editor. It's quick it's fast and it gets the job done, even if the end result just looks generically like every other video in existence.but that's what corporate trend following is all about) I work with multimedia for my work often and for youtube videos, etc. They're just glorified snapchat filters.ĭon't get me wrong, those kind of editor have their place. They optimize and largely automate most of those things, but offer little else beyond that feature wise and are (IMO) not actually true video editors at all. Movavi seems to me to be one of a new breed of so-called video editors They're cloud based, stripped down and optimized for the (many many) people who want little more than to add cool tik-tok effects and fancy zooms to their videos. I hope someone could answer my question(s) :) Sorry for the long message, but thanks for reading until here. My question is, would this Movavi bundle be worth it for me? Does Movavi have most of the features Kdenlive has too, and is it convenient and user-friendly? Kdenlive I know works good, but looks a but overwhelming when coming back, and it takes some time to edit a video in a good way. I haven’t made any new video lately, but I want to get back into it. Note that the Unicode normalization steps can/will change the number of code points needed to store the string, so if you include those, you can no longer plan on the result string fitting into the original storage. You then encode the sequence of UCS-4 code points into the desired encoding (UTF-8, UTF-16, etc.) If your input happened to contain a U+00C1 to start with, however, it would also convert that into two code points as well. This will turn the aforementioned "Latin A with acute" back into two code points - a "Latin capital A" and a "combining Acute". You then (again, optionally) apply another Unicode normalization process, such as NFD (canonical decomposition). You the reverse the order of those complete characters, typically by using the index you created in the previous step. The result of this will typically be an index of the actual characters in the string, such as the position and length of each. You then walk through all the characters from beginning to end, breaking the string into actual characters - and if there are (still) combining diacritic marks, keeping them with the characters they modify. ![]() This will (where possible) convert combining diacritical forms (such as the U+301 that Jon mentioned) into single code points (e.g., an "A" with a "U+301" would be converted to "Latin capital A with acute", U+00C1). In this case, you'd probably want to apply the "NFKC" transformation: compatibility decomposition followed by canonical composition. You can normalize the input to one of the four Unicode normalization forms. In some cases, you can be sure a particular sequence of octets does not follow the rules of a particular encoding scheme, but you can rarely (if ever) be sure that it does follow a particular encoding scheme. For this, you'd generally prefer to rely on input from the user than attempt to figure it out on your own. You normally want to start by converting any other representation to UCS-4 (aka UTF-32). At least to me, this seems a bit like brute-force engineering, with little real elegance. I'm the first to admit that there may be others who have better ideas though. I'll outline one possibility that I have found at least somewhat workable. This lets you keep each part of the transformation simple enough that you can keep it under control, and stand a reasonable chance of making it meet its requirements. You have to build your software in a number of layers, each of which applies a fairly specific set of transforms in a specific order. If you do have to deal with a broad range of inputs, you just about have to think in terms of a "stack", a bit like a network stack. Even if you direct them back to the simple case of just swapping 8-bit items, knowing whether or not they think in broader terms than that may be valuable. As an interview question, it's usually asked just about the technical bits of doing an in-place swap of 8-bit items to reverse their order (regardless of what characters those might actually represent).Īt the same time, especially if you're interviewing a relatively senior person, you could at least hope to hear some questions about the specification and the exact form of the input. ![]() So how do you avoid self-doubt?
